A Tebby Dare Welcome

I have two sons, A and Z. A used to refer to his teddy bears as Tebby Dares and I still think it's the cutest thing. I hope you enjoy reading about my boys and the things they do and say.

First Update of 2009

A is up in his room playing; apparently nap time is over. Good thing Z is still asleep. I wish they would go back to at least 1 hour of good overlap sleeping so that I could catch a bit myself. *sigh*

So, it's time for Momma to get off her tush and start blogging again for my kiddos. The title of this blog is an example of one of A's current pronunciation's of words that's unique to him. I hesitate to say "wrong" because I don't think there's anything wrong about it. It's just him... today. I'm sure before I know it, he'll be telling me all the stuff I don't know how to pronounce when he gets to school. So for now, I'll simply try to share stories of my boys days and some of the fun or funny things they say.

We have a few friends named Adam, but A says "Abum". When he burps, he says "Excuse Meese" (apparently there's more than one kid in there). :) And of course, there's the teddy bear whose name is Tebby Dare. I love that one.

So, little things about my boys:
- A is in a limited sleeping/napping phase. Most naps, if i can actually get him to stay in bed long enough for the exhaustion to put him to sleep, last less than 2 hours. They used to last at least 2-3 hours. And night time has become the time to delay getting in bed as long as possible, often including play time jumping from his bed to the floor and shaking the lights in the dining room.
- A, during these times of confinement to his bedroom but lack of interest in sleep, has started to use the full box of diapers and wipes I sometimes stash in there as step stools so that he can touch things I'd prefer he not. For instance, he was able to get a bottle of lotion down from a shelf. What did he decide to do with said lotion, you might ask. Well, he decided his stuffed Elmo doll had dry skin and needed lotion. Yes, half a bottle of lotion later and Elmo is saturated. At least he smells good. But A somehow misplaced the lid, so although I placed the lotion a higher shelf, I wonder what else will eventually be lotioned up.
- Z is doing great. I've given up on putting him on a strict schedule because it just stresses us both out, and instead I'm just focusing on reading his cues and working within a general guideline for sleep (2 to 3 naps a day at 1-2 hours per nap), and a fairly regular bedtime of 7pm give or take 15 mins. It seems to be working. He's busy learning how to reach for objects, talking up a storm, rolling back-to-belly and belly-to-back, and scooting around like an inchworm. I'm trying to prepare myself for an early crawler, and possibly an early walker. Regardless of my preparation or lack there of, it will happen, so I'll deal with it. The best thing is that he smiles, full face, open mouth smiles all the time. Which is good because he's still getting up between 1 and 3 times every night to feed, so I need the smiles to remind me that it's worth the sleep deprivation.

That's it from our house for now. If you're on skype and want to video conference, send me an email and we'll get it set up.

Love from us. - C
