A Tebby Dare Welcome

I have two sons, A and Z. A used to refer to his teddy bears as Tebby Dares and I still think it's the cutest thing. I hope you enjoy reading about my boys and the things they do and say.

mid-Feb Update

Ugh! We're still sick. A's eyes are starting to get goopy again. Z's nose won't stop running. My ears haven't popped in over a week from a trip to CA we took. I'm ready to be healthy and hope my doctor chooses to assist us in this endeavor during a family doctor's appointment tomorrow. Wish us luck and antibiotics!

Speaking of tomorrow reminds me that Z turns 5 months old tomorrow. I can't believe it. He's a tall kiddo with just enough baby fat, and a ready smile. And his giggles kill me. He's not always free with the giggles, but he's happy to share a smile almost any time of the day or night. His latest giggle inducer is to throw him up in the air and catch him. That turns the giggles on these days. It also makes me wonder what the kid is going to want to do for thrills when he gets older. Oy!

A's best buddy, AM, has been here for a play date every afternoon for the last 4 days. Yesterday, A told him "I love you" as they were hugging good-bye. It had to be the cutest thing ever. And today, when I told A that AM was coming over again, he said "I loves my buddy, Mommy." Of course, they like to hit, push, shove, and tackle each other during their play sessions, but I guess I should be happy that at least it's done with love.

As AM was leaving today, I accidentally smashed A's hand in between the door and the door jam. He was understandably hurt and upset, but after a bit of orange juice, he was practically as good as new. However, during the tearful first moments of pain, I made the mistake (?) of telling him he could have whatever he wanted for dinner instead of the chicken, rice and cheese casserole I had made. So, once in his seat and happily drinking his O.J., he asked to watch a video and eat cookies. I'm not that much of a sucker, so he only got a PB&J, but man, I think he's already learned the fine art of taking advantage of a situation.

One of my big take-aways from this experience, besides being a bit more cautious of what I offer up for make-you-feel-better favors, is that my oldest son is no wimp! I mean, how many grown men would've still been complaining about a smushed hand two days after said event, and here is my son totally composed after just 5 minutes.

One last precious moment, then I'm off to bed to try to make up for the 4 wake-up sessions with Mr. Z last night (yes! I'm going to bed at 8pm): after dinner, I was still finishing up my serving of the casserole and A was done with his sandwich, so I let him listen to his "Six little ducks" CD, and he stood there turning the pages of his book and making the motions with his hands. He's a bit shy at the library kiddo time when they sing and act out this song, but he was very confident doing it in our hearth room tonight. I love that he loves books and music, and that he's just his own littler person.

What a wonderful journey parenthood is.
